Weekend With the Fam...

This weekend my aunt Karen, cousin Brandi, her husband and daugher Cody and Jordan, and cousin Ashley came to visit. We just ate, chatted, did a little shopping, and chilled. Saturday evening, my sister-in-law Michelle, and niece Kiley, came up. They had come to Provo to visit Michelle's sister and we were lucky enough to be able to steal a few hours with them.

Kiley was a little grumpy when they got to my mom's house, but it wasn't too long before she got to be her cute self. I was lucky enough to get lots of "kissies" from her. I was kneeling on the stairs so I was even with her level. She was walking around, chasing toys, and every time she would walk past, I would say "give Auntie kissie..." She would walk over and give me a one arm hug and a kiss. SO CUTE.

We got tickets to go see the open house of the Draper Temple. The WHOLE group of us went. Kuso and I were going for the second time as we had already been with our ward youth group last month. I don't care what religion you are, or where your beliefs stand, I can't imagine that anyone would be able to argue against how beautiful these buildings are.

...and a little touch of personal opinion...the more one knows, understands, and has faith in the things that are done inside temple walls, the more beautiful the building is.

Quick Trip to Cali

This weekend my mom and I went to visit my brothers and family in California. Troy is at law school in San Diego so he just picked us up from the airport after class on Friday. He drove us up to Shawn's house in Murrieta. I haven't seen Kiley since Thanksgiving!!!

When we walked in the door, my mom said softly, "Hi Kiley." Kiley looked for about 1 second and ran/walked as fast as she could to my mom. Needless to say, my mom was the happiest grandma ever.

As you can see, just like all other young children, Kiley is obsessed with "adult" stuff. Cell phones, remote controls, cameras...anything that adults use, Kiley thinks she needs. Funny enough though, she ALWAYS finds the "OK" button on every device. She knows what she is doing.

Saturday morning, Shawn had to work, so Troy stayed with Kiley while mom, Michelle, and I went out. We got pedicures, did some shopping, and went to lunch. It was so nice to be on no time schedule. This picture below tells it all. Kiley loves her uncle Troy and the two of them had a good time.
The trip was short, but fun. We just relaxed and hung out. My mom and I woke up early with Kiley so Shawn and Michelle could sleep in a little. I got a small taste of what I'm looking forward to as a parent...but for now, I'm not ready to be up that early! I came home exhausted, but relaxed if there is such a thing.

Thanks Shawn and Michelle for putting up with us in your house!

ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

I'M PREGNANT!!! I'm 13 weeks which puts me in the beginning of my 2nd trimester! Kuso and I are obviously SUPER excited. The due date is September 12th...give or take a few days. Yes, that means I get to be big and fat all summer...but from what I hear, it will be worth it.

I've been feeling great. A few weeks after finding out, I was really tired for a couple weeks, but that has mostly passed. I haven't had hardly any nausea...definitely nothing that would keep me down. Nothing to complain about for sure.

Last Saturday, I had dinner with my "sisters." This was the first they had heard of it. I left to go to Kuso's class reunion right after dinner was over. I got a phone call a couple hours later. My "sisters" had bought me several maternity outfits. They are the greatest! Thanks for your friendship over the years. My family and I can't imagine our lives without you in it!

So in addition to my new clothes from my sisters, my cousin let me borrow some of her clothes, and my friend that lives near my mom let me borrow an entire tupperware box of clothes. Kuso gave me some money for Valentines to buy new clothes. And of course my mom has helped out. So amongst ALL the help I got, I've got a great start on my wardrobe...I'm sure I'll still buy a few select things that I WANT, but their help has defnintely been...well, helpful.

In my previous blogs about Kuso's surgery, I mentioned that I had gone to the emergency room with him. I actually thought I was having a miscarriage. Let's just say it wasn't just "spotting." At the time I was 9 weeks. After all was said and done, the baby was still measuring to be the right size, the heart rate was still pumping away, and from looking at the ultrasound, the doctor's could not see anything that concerned them. The final diagnosis was "I guess it was just a blood clot passing through. I don't know where it came from, but everything with the baby is fine." The follow up with my doctor also went well. As far as they are concerned, there is nothing to be concerned about!

We are so grateful that Heavenly Father has blessed us with the opportunity to become parents. We have been blessed with good health (now that all the trauma has passed...) and with enough love to sustain this baby through anything.

Stay tuned for more updates...
